July First Friday Round Up

July's First Friday is quickly approaching on the 7th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and it's the perfect opportunity to spend the evening downtown enjoying local art and local shops! Shops will be open late, restaurants will feature a variety of specials, and a number of unique events will be running. Learn more below!

+ ENJOY THE NEW ART MURAL DOWNTOWN

Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: 200 Front Street, Top Drawer Furniture & Design Studio

What: Check out our Public Art Committee's new mural installation on the Butler Street wall of Top Drawer on Front Street! This mural is a series of three installations, founded on the spirit of our new Mural Gallery Program with a mission to uplift local artwork that captures the unique heritage and culture of Marietta, Ohio.

+ MARIETTA RIVERFRONT ROAR

Time: 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Location: Ohio River Levee

What: The Riverfront Roar is Marietta's annual powerboat racing event on the Ohio River. + COMMUNITY PINTS AT MBC

Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Location: Marietta Brewing Company

What: Give back while you throw back a craft beer from Marietta Brewing Company. $1 of every pint and $2 of every growler will be donated to Building Bridges to Careers! Learn more here.

+ JENA LANE BLAIR AT TWISTED SISTERS BOUTIQUE

Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Twisted Sisters Boutique

What: Join the Twisted Sisters in downtown Marietta for a wonderful night celebrating the arts. Experience the wonder of molten glass as Jena Lane Blair, glass jewelry designer and artist creates her beautiful, one of a kind glass jewelry. Learn more here.

+ BAKE SALE FUNDRAISER FOR THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Armory Lawn

What: Support this bake sale put on by volunteers from the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County as they sell pies, cookies, brownies and more to raise money for BGC programs! Learn more here.

+ ROCK THE ART!WALK WITH MOVROCKS

Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Armory Lawn

What: MOVrocks will have everything you need to paint some rocks and have a great time! Take your rocks with you and hide/hunt while you stroll our beautiful town and enjoy all the shops being open late! Check out their Facebook event here.

+ BOUNCING FOR SMILES

Time: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Location: Historic Lafayette Hotel

What: Enjoy unlimited bouncing on bouncy houses inside the Lafayette Hotel! Arm Bands will cost $10 per person. Each arm band will entitle you to unlimited jumping in the bounce houses. There will be snacks, drinks, a photo booth and other indoor activities for additional fees. Cash Bar options for adults are available in the Lafayette Hotel Lobby. + FREE TOURS AT PEOPLES BANK THEATRE

Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Location: Peoples Bank Theatre

What: Stop in to Peoples Bank Theatre for FREE behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre! Originally known as the Hippodrome in 1919 and later as the Colony Theatre, downtown's newly renovated historic theatre reopened for performances in January 2016. Explore backstage. Listen for the echoes of voices long gone, and feel the spine-tingling anticipation as you stand on the stage and imagine a thousand people watching in the audience and the sound of their applause. Learn about the history of the building, its notable owners, and see parts of the theatre that are rarely accessible to the general public. Bring a camera and comfortable walking shoes, as participants will be climbing stairs to the projection booth at the top of the house and descending below the stage on this tour. + DRUM CIRCLE AT RIVERSIDE ARTISTS GALLERY

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Riverside Artists Gallery

What: Lawrence of Ugata: Drum and Dance will be leading some drummers out on the street in front of the Riverside Artist Gallery. He will have some extra drums and percussion for people that are passing by. If you plan to come down bring a drum and maybe a chair but we will have extra chairs set up too. + COMMUNITY ART SHOWCASE

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Riverside Artists Gallery

What: Come one, Come All on Friday evening, July 7th, to a Celebration of Art in the Ohio Valley Region! Riverside Artists Gallery is pleased to present its July exhibit, a Community Art Showcase. This juried exhibit features the talents of approximately 20 artists in all media from the Ohio Valley region, including jewelry, wood furniture, photography, watercolor, mixed media, ceramics, collage, stained glass, and much more. Join the artists and gallery members, see our community through the arts, and enjoy the pulse and enjoy the art of the Marietta community.

What: Green Acres of Marietta will be hosting Baskets by Ann, a local artist that makes unique, hand dyed and hand woven baskets! Custom orders available!
